Verde Springs Soap Company was started by Carolyn Camp and Mieko Alcalde, two friends who were looking to create natural skin care products for their own families use and who also wanted to create beautiful handcrafted gifts for their friends.

We made our first batch of soap in 1995 using a recipe from a book found in the local library. After much trial and error we created our own recipe that would become the base for many of our custom handcrafted soaps.

After many years of making and creating new soaps and other natural skin care products to share with our friends and families we decided to take our products out into the public.

We began marketing our soaps at home craft sales and farmers markets. The response was positive. We had many return customers who loved our soaps and bought them for friends as well as for themselves. Our products have been used and enjoyed both locally and throughout the world.

We were asked by our customers how they could reorder and if we could ship to other locations. We decided it was time to create a website so that people could view our products, check out any new projects we were working on, place orders at their convenience and have their selections delivered directly to their homes. This website continues to be a work in progress.

In the year 2000 we began expanding our line of natural skin care products. In addition to our fine line of natural soaps, we now offer handmade body scrubs, roll on parfums, lip balms, and massage oils. As we grow we hope to continue adding to our natural skin care product collection.

Our truly natural products are vegan, cruelty free, biodegradable minimally packaged and do not contain many of the harmful ingredients that are found in commercial skin care products.

Products commonly found in commercial products are preservatives, petroleum products, FD and C colorants or dyes, parabens, sodium laurel sulfate, laureth sulfate, triclosen TEA. You don’t like to eat food that contains harmful ingredients, please don’t use harmful ingredients on your body either. These ingredients are absorbed by your body and some of them are known carcinogens.

We aim to run our business in an eco friendly and socially responsible manner. This includes the use of recyclable and/or reusable shipping and packaging materials. When possible, we will re-use boxes and packaging materials from items we have received by mail, so you may end up with some random re-used boxes with original names covered! We hope that you realize this small inconsistency , while it may not be as pleasing to the eye-is helping us all in ways far more important than looks! The paper we print our labels on is made of 50% recycled paper and we hope that you will recycle them as well. You won’t see plastic cellophane or shrink-wrap on our soap bars!
